Our first ever Random NBA Player of the Day is Peter Verhoeven.
Verhoeven was a 6-9 Power Forward out of Fresno State who played for five seasons in the NBA from 1981-1987.
Drafted at Pick 85 by the Portland Trailblazers in the 1981 NBA draft, Verhoeven also played for Kansas City, Indiana and Golden State during his NBA tenure.
The biggest NBA game of his career came on Christmas Day in 1981, his rookie year.
Going up against Seattle, Verhoeven put up 28 points and 12 rebounds in 34 minutes of action, knocking down all four of his free throw attempts and shooting over 85% from the field.
In fact, Verhoeven's rookie year was the most productive of his career, with career highs in Games Played, Games Started, Minutes, Points, Blocks, Rebounds, Steals, Assists and more.
He finished with career averages of 3.5ppg and 2.3rpg before playing with the Charleston Gunners and then a stint overseas which included time at Askatuak SBT in Spain.
In 2006 he was inducted into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame, after a four-year college career that saw him help the Bulldogs win a conference title and NCAA tournament appearance in 1981.
That 1981 season brought about Verhoeven's best stats of his college career, where he averaged nine points and five rebounds in 30 minutes of action a night.
Verhoeven now works as an insurance agent in the town he grew up in, Hanford, California.
