Metta World Peace was a 6-6 small forward who had a stellar NBA career for 17 seasons playing for Chicago, Indiana, Sacramento, Houston, New York and the LA Lakers.

Coming out of St. John's University where he averaged 13ppg, 6rpg, 3apg, 1bpg and almost 2spg, the then known as Ron Artest was taken with the 16th overall pick in the NBA Draft.

A Haggerty award winner, third-team All-American and first-team All-Big East out of college, Artest made a smooth transition to the NBA, being named to the all-rookie second team after averaging 12ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.8apg & 1.7spg in his first season.

Artest moved to the Pacers during the 01-02 season and it's here where he arguably played his best basketball, winning defensive player of the year in 2003-2004 as well as being named an All-Star for the first time. Unfortunately his Indiana career was marred by controversy, after he was slapped with the biggest suspension in NBA history, 86 games, for his part in the infamous 'Malice in the Palace'.

After serving his suspension, Artest joined Sacramento where he again showed why he was one of the most dominant defenders in the game, being named to the 2005-06 All-Defensive first team.

After a brief stint in Houston, Artest, or soon to be Metta World Peace, joined the Lakers where he was a key figure in their 2010 Championship run. He played six seasons with the Lakers, briefly broken up by a stint in New York and in Europe.

His best individual game? How about when he was with the Kings in 2007 when he had 39 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 5 blocks with 3 three-pointers made.

There's no question, Ron Artest/Metta World Peace was one of the game's great lockdown defenders.
