Dick McGuire was a 6-0 point guard who played for the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons between 1949-1960.
He was one of the premier point guards of the 1950's, leading the league in assists in his rookie year and was an NBA All-Star on seven occasions.
He was drafted with the 7th overall pick by the New York Knicks in the 1949 NBA (then BAA) Draft.
McGuire was also named to the All-NBA second team in 1951, and had his #15 jersey retired by the Knicks in 1992.
McGuire played his college basketball with St. John's University & Dartmouth, where he became a second and third team All-American. He also won the Haggerty Award for being the top rated New York Division I Men's player of the year on two occasions.
McGuire was also inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, as well as the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
McGuire finished with NBA career with averages of 8.0ppg, 4.2rpg & 5.7apg, before going on to coach both Detroit and New York.
